Thinking about contact lenses?
Contact lenses are a popular way to improve your vision and are an alternative to wearing spetcales. They give you lifestyle freedom for both work and play. If you are interested in wearing contact lenses and you have never worn them before , then you need to be fitted by an optometrist.
The first step is to make an appointment for an eye examination to assess the health of your eyes and determine your spectacle prescription. This will be bulk billed to Medicare. At this point the optometrist will advise you on your options for contact lenses.
The following fees apply if you wish to be fitted with contact lenses:
First time wearers
Initial fee $90.00
This includes:
- Trial contacts with starter pack on contact lens cleaning solutions
- Measurement and fitting for contact lenses
- Delivery of contact lenses which involves a one on one teaching with the optometrists on how to insert, remove and look after the contact lenses.
- One aftercare visit (ie health assessment) of your eyes now that you
are wearing contact lenses
A further 1-2 aftercare visits may be required depending on how often the contact lenses are worn and the type of contact lenses you are wearing. These visits are charged at $40 per visit.
Previous Wearers
All visits are charged at $40. The number of aftercare visits will vary according
to what is needed.
Once the aftercare visits have been completed we then review contact lens wearers for a general health check every 12 months. This consultation is bulk billed to Medicare.
