What is the best progressive lens to wear?
There are currently some 100 different progressive lens designs available. Some of these designs are almost 30 years old, but continue to be produced and supplied to customers because they are inexpensive. Lens suppliers have research and development departments that continuously work on improving visual performance by implementing new technologies.

Would you want to wear old design progressive lenses? Would you consider using a computer that was even 15 years old? What about one of the original “brick” mobile phones? What about an old black and white TV? The answer is probably not!!!!!

Traditional progressive lenses had the progression on the front surface and the distance prescription ground on the back surface. Some newer versions of these lenses incorporate aspheric front surface technology giving clearer, wider vision through thinner lenses.

The current stage of development of the lenses involves the use of new free form technology. This allows the progression to be ground on either the front or back surface or on both surfaces. Each prescription is customized to ensure maximized fields of view and minimized distortions.

So, what is the best progressive lens to wear?

There is no single progressive lens design that can be said to be the best and will give perfect vision.

In deciding which progressive lens to use we consider:

Size of the Spectacle Frame
Intended use- Lifestyle requirements
Type of Prescription
Previous progressive lens worn
