Eye examinations

One of the best ways to care for your eyes and your vision is to have regular examinations.
Like your general or dental health, your vision and eye health should be checked regularly.

Many of the changes caused by eye disease occur slowly over many years and sometimes
without obvious signs and symptoms. Regular check-ups make detection more likely. Thus
allowing prompt treatment and a better chance of curing or controlling the disease.

How often you have your eyes examined depends on your age and the condition of the eyes.
Persons who have no identified disorders or visual difficulties should have their eyes examined
every 2 years.

Young children should have their eyes examined for the first time just before they commence
school.

Persons who wear glasses or have some other disorder will often need more frequent attention
and should attend as often as their eyecare practitioner recommends.

Eye examinations are comprehensive vision and health assessments and may also include:

  • Computerised Glaucoma Assessment- Visual Fields
  • Colour vision testing
  • Cataract assessment

These eye tests are available by appointment Monday to Saturday and will be bulkbilled
if you bring your Medicare card.
